Rapunzel Card

Hello and Good Morning!
Today is the last post for my July Guest Designer spot at ScrappyDew. I have made some pretty cute stuff with their files and I would have to say that my favorite is probably the Royal Palz, it's a huge one and will probably get used the most.
Here's a quick card using just one of the images in this file.
This is Rapunzel and she comes with a horse,
carriage and a prince!

This is a photo of the whole set!

I told you it was HUGE!! ;)

Mermaid Easel Card

It's Saturday and that means time for a new project reveal!  Last weeks cards, while very nice and heartfelt, lacked a certain flair.  (which was extremely hard for me to do)  I hope I can remedy that situation with this weeks masterpiece.  I have a confession.  I love faeries, pixies, witches and mermaids.  So when I saw that SD (ScrappyDew) had a mermaid file I knew this was my cuppa tea!  First here is the link to the mermaid file
http://www.scrappydew.com/store/animals/sea_theme.php Aren't these just adorable.  So now on to the card.  I knew I wanted to make an Easel Card.  It would just fit how I wanted the card to work out.  BUT, with any plan, once I start working, the card takes on a life of its own. (sometimes screaming at me) I wanted an ocean background.  Do you think in all my stash I had a pretty ocean background?  Noooo.  So I just got out my watercolors and some watercolor paper and made my own.

I have always thought that a mermaids tail would be very beautiful and sparkle.  So I cut the tail with Zenith Zing and went in search of glitter.  Naw glitter isn't what I want, I want sequins.  (looks like a fishes scales)  I had a package of sequins that I bought a while back.  So with needle nose tweezers in hand, I glued each one on.

Now this is where being a big fan of SD is very helpful. I had purchased Under the Sea Palz 2  http://www.scrappydew.com/store/animals/sea_theme.php and being a very happy vault member I have the Sea Palz 2009 package also.  So now I start picking and choosing what I want to use.  The animals are so small.  No bigger than an inchie! (1x1) The sea kelp was 5 inches and then I found in my stash the letters and low and behold they were bubbles. (see how some cards just come together)  So here is this weeks masterpiece!
(take a closer look to see all the details)

Now for the next few weeks, I will be sharing elements for a Halloween project that will be revealed in all it's glory after labor day.  So it might not make sense right when I post but it's a doozie!

Thanks for taking the time out of your day to have a cuppa with me.  I wish you bright blessings and see ya next Saturday!!!  Jana

Race Day Birthday, Bonnets, and Bridal Shower Card

As part of Scrappydew design team I completed this fun little card:
\

Card created using Race Day Kidz - 2012.

The pattern set is call "Bonnets", which I think is my favorite Scrappydew pattern.  My mind is still spinning in ways to use it.

This was a ton of fun to do.  Scrappydew has a pattern called "Rainy Babies-2013"  I took the umbrella from the pattern and copied it in MTC, mirrored and weld it to make the card.  The bride is from Scrappydew's "Wedding Day - 2012" pattern.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the projects.

God Bless,

Magical Memories Birthday Card

I used the set Magical Memories.  Instead of using one of the kids that are included in the files, I decided to look at each individual element and make a card from there. This is what I made!

I took the mouse head from the shirt of the little girl and enlarged it to make it the focal point of my card.  For the bow I took matching ribbon, tied a knot in it and wrapped it around the paper bow cut out.

The background is embossed with a happy birthday embossing folder and the sentiment is from stamp this set by Whimsy Stamps.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Baby's First Christmas Layout

I chose to use the "Baby's First Christmas" file from ScrappyDew. I also recently used this file on a card I made for my GDT spot on Tuesday.
Great file with many, many different possibilities.
Here is what I have created this week.

Midway State Park Layout

Think of the excitement I felt when I went into the gift shop and found Midway State Park 12" by 12" scrapbook paper and titles... Me being a scrapbooker I was in HEAVEN! I made this layout with the paper I bought from talking my son Noah to Midway State Park last summer and the adorable paper piecing file from ScrappyDew called "Carnival Theme Park".

We haven't been to Midway State Park this year yet but we will be very soon...

A little history of Midway State Park

Midway was originally opened as one of the thousands of "trolley parks" across the country that offered respite and recreation for families in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Midway Park has endured as a destination for family fun and now ranks as the 16th oldest continually operating amusement park in the country. At the peak of it's popularity in the 1920s, Midway Park hosted events that attracted thousands of visitors who enjoyed swimming and bathing, roller skating, the dance hall, and rides that included the thrilling "Jack Rabbit" roller coaster.

Ownership of Midway Park was held by the JW & NW railroad until 1939, Thomas Carr until 1951, and the Walsh family until the park was purchased by the State of New York in 2007 and continues operations today as Midway State Park. Under the Walsh family and through a growing relationship with the Allan Herschell Co. in nearby North Tonawanda, a complete Herschell kiddyland of rides was installed in the 1950s, soon supplemented by "Dodgem" cars, the "Tilt-A-Whirl", and the carousel, still the anchors of ride activity at Midway. The games arcade, located in the former trolley depot on the grounds of the park, remains as the other focal point of park activity in the 21st century.

Autumn Angel Card

Good Evening Everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful day. I decided to get a start on some fall cards.
When I created this Sunflower Doily file, I knew the exact ScrappyDew pattern file I would use for my card project. "Sprinkled With Love
My battery died for my DSLR, so I had to use my iPhone. The angel wings are embossed. I also added Crystal Stickles along the edge, you can't see it in the photo.
I added a Trendy Twine bow to her hair.
This is such a great pattern file and can be used for many different projects, not just for fall.
A look at the Doily before I added my paper piecings.

The inside of my card, I created my mat by using the Martha Stewart Swirling Lace edge punch. I think it complimented the doily nicely.

Men and their Toys

I am NOT good at making cards for guys.  Never have been.  (practice makes perfect, ha ha ha)  But I have two guy birthdays that are only 5 days apart. I have made race cars, under the sea and patriotic cards for these two men and I needed to come up with something simple but heartfelt.  I had purchased the ScrappyDew file Tool Box bundle package 2011 http://www.scrappydew.com/store/grown_up/  and thought I might be able to use it.  So here is what I created.

Using Make The Cut software, I enlarged the tool box to card size, duplicated it and welded together the two to make a folding card.  This bundle comes with fantastic tools and I picked some out and made sure that they would be large enough for the card.  After making all the tools the card needed something, not glitter but something.  So I grabbed a couple of brads, got my sharpies and colored them to match the card.  Then I cut off the prongs and used 3D foam squares to attached them like bolts.  Now for the inside.

I had taken pictures of each of the guys toys many years ago.  Thank goodness I never throw/delete pictures.  (another saving bacon moment)  I printed out the pics and glued each to the top inside of the correct card.  Took some corresponding card stock glued to the bottom half, embossed and attached the tools.  And presto chango my guys cards are done!

Short, sweet and heartfelt.  I think that I accomplished that.  Now I need to go make the huge batch of chocolate chip cookies for Bob and Butterscotch cookies for Duane.  Then I can call these two birthdays done for another year!

Next post will be something a little more my style with bling and sparkle.  May your week be filled with bright blessings!

Cub Scout Card

This is my latest design team project for ScrappyDew.  I have a nephew who is a cub scout and when I saw their Boy Scouts SVG files, I couldn't help but make him a card.
I made the outfit look just like my nephew's :)  The background behind the boy die cut is embossed with a swirls and stars embossing folder and the boy is adhered with foam tape.  I tried something different this time and used a peachy keen face stamp instead of the included face parts in the SVG file.
The finishing touches are some Beary Brown rumpled ribbon, a bottle cap with an epoxy overlay featuring the boy scout symbol in the SVG files, and the sentiment flag that I stamped.
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!
