Boo Part 2

It's fall y'all!  But here in my little corner of the world it has been dreary.  The rainy season is here and that means not seeing the sun for weeks at a time.  BUT here in my craft room it is bright and sunny.  Time to share another BOO decoration with you.

The first BOO decoration went to my DIL's mom for her birthday.  Well, the kids wanted one also so here is what I came up with.  First off the lyrics...

My DIL loves Zombies and my daughter loves garden gnomes.  So I put my thinking cap on and came up with zombie gnomes!!!  I took bits of the garden gnome file and using MTC resized the pieces to fit on the zombie shapes.  A little inking of the edges and here is what I came up with.

(sorry for the heavy pics)  Now here is the total completed project!

Many years ago, my kids found a rowen broom that was scented with cinnamon at of all places Trader Joes.  Strange Jana fact #1:  I collect witches and faeries and anything that fits in with this theme.  So a broom made out of Rowen fits right in!

Just Spinning By!

Hey ya'll!  I have a very quick and cute Halloween card to share with you today.  I have just fell in love with spinner cards.  This is going to a friend who loves to get mail.  Not real fancy but loaded with fun.

Short sweet and to the point.  I might have one more Halloween project to share.  To tell ya the truth, I have already switched gears.  I am in full on christmas mode.  I am doing a bazaar the first weekend in December.  I decided to make sets of Christmas cards.  5 cards to each set.  I want to make 20 sets so that is 100 cards if my math is correct.  I have to get going on these.

So my friend, take care.  The rainy season is almost here and boy howdy am I ready.

Happily Ever After

Let me tell you a story,,,

Back in March, I received a wedding invitation.  Now for me this is not an ordinary wedding invitation.  This is a BIG DRESS UP (wearing panty hose) type of wedding.  It's in the big city in a very prestigious church.  (gosh i feel like a country bumpkin)  So since this invitation is from a very good friend, I accepted.

In the last part of June, I found my dress.  (pics later)  Every once in a while I would get the dress out of the closet and make sure it still looked good on me. (still good there)  It's now 1 week before my daughter and I head out.  I have had the card in my minds eye for a while.  Time to get started.

Here are the lyrics:
I used the Wedding Day, Royalty Palz and Movie Night 2013 files from ScrappyDew.

DCWV Glitter Stack, Graphic45 Le Romantique series, Recollections card stock,
The Paper House Mulberry paper in eggplant and assorted rhinestones and pearls.

Now the weddings colors are eggplant and dark green.  The bride will be carrying a bouquet of fall colors.  (sure helps to have inside info)  The first wedding couple I made, the bride and groom are facing each other.  Groom in all black and bride in white. It looked horrid!!!  I fretted for a few hours and then it dawns on me.  Use the colors of the wedding and play it up big.  So here is the front of the card.  (oh, BTW the card is 7x6")

The groom is wearing the wedding colors and the bride's dress is embossed. The dress was cut out of white card stock.  I had some wide white ribbon and I covered the card stock.  Then used the bug to emboss the entire dress.   Remember those leaves I used for the Halloween doozie, that's what the bouquet is made of.

Next, I wanted to make something unique and special for the inside of the card.  I don't think that a card is done unless the inside is as special as the outside.  So I decided that I could modify the Movie Night 2013 file.  I used the gallery from Make The Cut for a tag for the just married plaque.  The cans were the cylinder shape from MTC basic shapes.  A little bit of dark green ribbon and my car is complete.

Now this card needed a very special envelope.  So I dug out my G45 paper and found a couple in an embrace.  It is from the Le Romantique collection.

So this is what I have been doing for the last week.  So tomorrow is the big day.  So you all get a special friday post of the blog.  

I hope to have pics to share of this fantastic event, must make sure to pack my camera!  (just hope that the shoes and my feet last, taking some other shoes just in case)

Halloween Mini Doozie

Hello everyone.  It's time for the mini doozie reveal!  So excited that you could join me today.  

So last week I revealed this...

She is such a cutie! For all of this mini doozie I have used ScrappyDew's Costume Kidz 2.  There were various papers used.  Mostly Recollections and then I bought a package of fall leaves from Joanns.  The Boo paper is by Hot off the Press and the tag board is by Silhouette.  I had the orange and black nylon net and the 1/4" orange ribbon just handing around in my storage rack.  Gosh what else can I tell you about this doozie....?   Not much I guess.  So my dear friends, HERE IN ALL IT'S GLORY IS THE MINI DOOZIE HALLOWEEN 2014.

This project is all boxed up and is heading back east.  The package also includes a stunning birthday card for one special lady (will have a post on the card in a couple of weeks).  I have had a blast making this mini doozie.  It's really gotten me in the mood to make my Halloween cards for this year.  

Now next week I will be posting the blog on Friday.  The girls and I are traveling to a very special wedding on Saturday.  It's formal, i'm talking pantyhose ladies.  I have my outfit picked out and taking the girls shopping on Tuesday to get them all gussied up.  May have a few pics to share....just have to keep tuned to Rhapsody on Paper.

Halloween Doozie!!

It's DOOZIE time, It's DOOZIE time!  No, I haven't had a screw come loose.  Welcome to the 2nd annual Halloween DOOZIE post.  I started this last year with decorations I made using ScrappyDew's wonderful Halloween files.  Here is a look at last years reveal!

For this years DOOZIE, I am making a mini doozie.  (not enough hours in the day with all that is on my schedule)  So for part one I have made the Witch from the Costume Kidz 2 file over at ScrappyDew.  After making her, I chose a block font and cut out a giant letter "O".  I made an "O" out of tag board and two types of paper.  Sandwiched them together and this made a sturdy stand.  Next on to decorating.  Some orange and black nylon net and orange ribbon, throw in some fall leaves and I had a decoration for the letter.

Now of course you know that there were a lot more steps and mishaps.  No project can be that simple.  But guess what?  It really was!!!  Without further ado...Mini Doozie part 1.

I just love the paper by Paperwishes.  See the boo's.....hmmmmm.  Next week you can see the big reveal.  This mini doozie is going to someone special and I need to get it in the mail for her birthday!

Back to School

Hey everyone!  I am a day early with my ScrappyDew design team project this week.  Tomorrow morning, bright and early, I will be on a park field watching hot air balloons get inflated and take off.  I have been doing this since the early 80's.  Don't get to the field each year, but always watch them from the house.  Now for this weeks project.

A few weeks back a new file was introduced.  It is called School 2014.  I have a friend that just loves to get mail.  This year he will be in 9th grade.  Gosh the 1st year of high school.  I had a feeling he would really like a surprise back to school card.

I used Recollections scraps for the boy and the actual card.  I also used Blackboard paper from Momenta for the inside.  I duplicated the school house and mirrored it.  Then welded both pieces together to create the card base.  On the inside I enlarged the notebook from the file to make it bigger so that I could have them be note cards.  So here is the final result...

I just love the way this special card turned out for my friend.  His mom told me, he loved it!  So my work is done (until Halloween that is).  

So I'm going to let you in on a strange little secret of mine.  If I get to do an activity that is really special to me, I plan ahead and get an outfit together so I will look SUPER!  I am a big believer in shopping thrift stores.  I find a great many items that have been donated by a retail store that are brand new.  Then I snap them up at pennies on the dollar.  So this is my outfit for tomorrow morning.  I am going to be stunning! (giggle giggle giggle)

Last year, at the end of July til the Labor day weekend, I had a DOOZIE project going on. Here is the first post from last year.  This year is no different.  The first post of this MINI DOOZIE will be next weekend.  That is if I can keep from burning my fingers with the hot glue.  So for now, bright blessings, Jana.

No Soliciting

It's Saturday again and I have a confession to make.  I do not always love how a project turns out.  In fact, I recently tore up a project but kept the piece that I liked.  If I keep what I like, I will usually use it on another project. I have a really cute little box that I have bits and pieces of cards and other projects that have gone by the wayside.

This weeks project uses one of those bits.  I posted a little orange purse project a few weeks ago.  

Look at the edges.  Nothing would stick to that darned orange glitter paper!

So I tore it all apart and kept the fairy.  The fairy pattern is the Flower Fairy Princess 2014.  She is cute as a bugs ear and I just knew I could use her sometime soon.  

On my front door I have a No Soliciting sign that is very creative.  It was getting very faded and I just needed to make a new one.  So I got out some Recollections paper and cut out what I wanted the sign to say and backed it with a bright color (I used the paper I cut the letters out of like a stencil).

 Next I dug out my Purple Cows Laminator and sealed the sign up.  After some finagling I got the sign the way I liked it.  So here is the new and improved Flower Fairy 2014.

Does this help with the solicitors?  In a way, some leave the porch and don't knock.  But just this week I had one knock and I answered.  The young man just wanted to say he "LOVED MY SIGN!!!!"

Boys Never Grow Up!

Hello again, it's Saturday.  I have another guy birthday card to share today.   One of our employees, Duane, has a birthday 5 days after hubbys.  So I decided to make him a card in a box also.

Now Duane is a racing freak.  Besides working in a machine shop, he races slot cars, races his actual Monte Carlo race car at the Woodburn drag strip and has an obsession with Hot Wheels.  They are tacked up in the office at the shop and all over his home.  

You can just imagine how excited I was when ScrappyDew came out with the file Hot Wheels 2014.  I knew right then I had to use this file for Duane!  The card is constructed with scraps of Recollections paper and some of DCWV glitter stack scraps.  (i swear i do use pretty paper for things, really!)  I also added some stickers from EK Sucess.  So here is my creation...

I have to say, every once in a while I suprise myself by how well a creation comes together.  I just love this card.  Duane was beside himself.  He loved the card and I think he loved his present also!

Warm Hugs Across the Miles

Guess what gang?  It's Saturday again and time for a new project.  This is a card that I made using the Scrap Factory file called ScrappyDew Bedtime.  I used the hair Vicki and outfit #3.  All of the card is constructed using various scraps and 1 sheet of cinnamon colored felt from Hobby Lobby.

 The inside of the card uses Kitty Palz from Scrappydew.  

I have a very good friend that lives many miles away that is dealing with a medical issue at the moment.  I thought she might like a cute card to cheer her up.  I think I surprised her and she said that it did just that.  Get well soon sweetie!

Now to the comedy portion of the blog for this week.  I am a huge CHICKEN when it comes to thunder and lightning storms.  I am terrified.  Thankfully we just don't get many here in the valley of Oregon.  That was until last night.  I knew when I got up in the morning and saw those stinking clouds I was in trouble.  (at least the storm waited until after the ScrappyDew Hangout on Google+ was over) About 9:12 pm (yes, I looked at the clock) it started.  Just heat lightning at first and then the BOOMERS started about 45 minutes later.  Wasn't bad, I could handle this.  But when the power blinked and the house rattled I went into panic mode.  Where can I hide....can't get under the bed.  Plugging my ears just made my head and fingers hurt.  THEN I remember I saw in the garage a set of noise cancelling ear phones (like the ones you use on a firing range).  Slapped those puppies on and magically the boomers didn't seem so scary anymore.  Of course this is after 3 hours of trying to stay calm.  This danged storm lasted until just before 4 am.  Of course then my kitty Spooky decided it was time for her to eat and got me up at 6:30 am.  Gang, I was falling asleep in my lunch.  Took a 3 hour nap this afternoon and all is well at home again.  Still keeping an eye out on the NOAA radar for any threat coming at us for tonight but so far so good.

Da Boat!

My darling husbands birthday was Wednesday.  So each birthday I try to create a fabulous card just for him (he is my biggest supporter and critic).  So this year I wanted to showcase his baby.  A 28 foot Tollycraft boat.  The boat hasn't been in the water in over 5+ years.  DH has been slowly but surely completely overhauling everything from the engine and electrical to the curtains (that was my job).  I really hope that come late fall, we just might be able to put the boat in at Newport, Oregon for some crab and salmon.  But just in case, I went ahead and floated his boat sooner!

He LOVED this card.  He even took it to our shop to show it off.  BTW, did you notice the boat and lighthouse?  I watched a tutorial created by ScrappyDew on how to do a pixel trace and then create a print and cut. If you are on google+ come on over to The Cut Zone.  It is a wonderful group and we share projects using all sorts of cutters and programs.  Now my 1st attempt at this type of pixel trace is rather rough.  But with practice, I bet I can get spot on!

2014 Kelly Word Book

Hello and welcome to another Saturday edition of Rhapsody on Paper!  Gosh it's been 2 whole weeks since my last post.  How are ya'all doing?  Beating the heat/weather worries?  I have been busy creating from scratch a new to me project.

I have a few very close friends.  For their birthdays, I pull out all the stops.  I try to create unique birthday cards for each of them.  This usually means trials with lots of errors (bet that's why I fill my recycling bin).  So I opened Make The Cut software and started designing. (in a while I will be able to make video's to show you how I create something).  I wanted to make a word book. So using basic shapes and the Vedana font, I made pages for each letter of my book.  Then came the designing stage.  Since I made this for my sister of my heart, I tried to personalize each page directly to her.  I used a lot of ScrappyDew files.  So here are the lyrics:

I used several different combinations from the Scrap Factory program.  

On the E page I used hair melissa, outfit capri and diva purse 3.  On the L page, I used a file from the ScrappyDew Vault called Camping Kids girl set 2. My girls gave me the dragonfly punch.  

On the next L page I used a ScrapFactory doll with hair melissa, outfit summer girl and open toes body.  I also used the Say Cheese Mouse file from ScrappyDew.  Also on this page are a Scrap Factory cheerleader with hair vicki and last a ScrappyDew file called Baby Girl Crawling 2013.  On the Y page I used ScrappyDew's file Drop Dead Diva's #4.  I created the cake stand in Make The Cut (again with basic shapes).

Boy howdy that's a lot of files.  Now I could list all the papers and embellishments, nawwww.  It's mostly recollections paper and stuff I buy on clearance.
